Hey Veg Peeps!
Long time no share, well I’m back to share my one of my best of the vegan world lists for you! Vegan dogs deserve the absolute best! Giving them that includes finding only the best eats and treats! I have one of the pickiest little eaters around. My pup has been vegan since nearly birth, so she has quite the discriminating palate. If people offer her hot dogs, she scoffs them away, but the little cutie devours carrots and won’t stop eating them until you stop giving them to her. She makes me so proud and brings me such smiles that I can’t help but spend time scouring for new and amazing treats for her. While the list is not entirely exhaustive of what’s out there, it is some of my pup’s absolute favorites!
Number one on my list are the Whimzees and ALL varieties of them! They are a new love for my pup and have stood the test of time, because she often tires easily of treats. Not in this case, she goes back for them time and time again with just the same enthusiasm as she did in those few nibble sessions. the other bonus is that these are marketed as dental bones, and to that claim, I can attest. She had some stubborn plaque/decay and these got rid of that after just a few bones! I was shocked! I’d be curious to know if you’ve tried these have you had the same results for your furry friends? The other bit I love is that they are all so different in shape, color, and texture from flat to round to thick and thin. All of these are vegan and knowing thatI’m able to present my pup with something different looking and likely tasting each (though I cannot attest to that) makes me feel I’m doing my part to add variety and spice to her life! Lastly, these are AFFORDABLE. I can get a pack of those 28 sausage looking sticks for just 17 bucks. On average, they cost just about 75 cents a piece such a steal for health, variety, and a good vegan dog treat.
One other notable mention about this brand is how AMAZING their packaging is as you can see the top is not your standard zip closure. It has a velcro closure! I’ve never seen this type of closure before, but holy-wow do more products need this (sorry not on the zero waste bandwagon just yet)! If you want fresh for your pup, it’s a no-brainer. Detour for some foreshadowing, this makes me think that we’ll soon be seeing zip-loc bags that also boast this zip-velcro closure. Sorry for the tangent, but as any mom knows, it’s the small things that make us happy 🙂
Second on my list are the Little Buddies treats! These have absolutely stood the test of time as they have been a favorite of my pup for at least the last 5 or so years which is unique as her interests fade rather quickly when it comes to the eats. My pup is not terribly food-motivated, so if a treat can stand the test of disinterest, it must be something great! These are found at Amazon and Target and are a bit pricey ($5 at Target). They have great ingredients but note that not all in this line are vegan as they carry some carni-types as well. These are soft and can easily be broken into little bits for training or portion control. They travel well and do not easily go stale. Hands-down the best small-bite type of treat.
#3 best vegan dog treat are Baby Carrots – these are raw, crisp, sweet, and cooling if you store them in the fridge. My pup can eat her weight in baby carrots!!
On the train of tiny treats, these training treats from Raw Paws Pet Food are perfect for purists and discerning pups!
#5- Three Dog Bakery – Vanilla Sandwich Cookies – there are many of these that are marketed to dogs but really the ingredients are mostly the same as those marketed to humans unless you’re talking the chocolate variety. My opinion is to just get the vanilla oreo variety of your choosing (organic, gluten-free, regular, etc.) and share a bit with your pup! One of my favorite things is to eat the same thing as my dog at the same time. In my desperate attempt to connect, I love the idea we’re likely having the same experience at the same time. It gives me squeals! If you do want to stick to pup-friendly varietals, I suggest the Three Dog Bakery options since there are many: Carob with Peanut Butter frosting, Golden with Vanilla frosting, and Golden with Peanut Butter frosting!!
These are one of the only dry treats in the traditional sense that my pup will eat. The smell amazing too. There’s another variety with quinoa which are more circular-shaped , but my pup cannot stand those. Stick with this variety and your pup will thank you!

#8 – If your pup has not been vegan like mine since nearly birth, they may have developed a taste for the smokey flavors of hot dogs or sausages and such. If that is the case, the third option on my list is the Coconut Smokey flavored bones by Three Paws Gourmet – Raising The Bone on Dog Treat Standards.
This brand also makes three other flavors. ALL vegan and all treats from Three Paws Gourmet are high-quality ingredients including organic, grain-free, and gluten-free eats for your pup!
#9 is Super Fat Broccoli Stalks! If you’re a purist or just looking to use up all your household foods, I highly suggest allowing your pup gnaw on some broccoli stock. You know those massive stalks that hold all your cruciferous heads together. Usually, you try to avoid those fat stalks as they seriously raise the price of your broccoli bundle, but go for it! And share it with your puppy pal! They love it, and it’s soo good for them too!
#10 – Puppy treats for those pooches in chronic pain are Hemp Wellness Treatibles -Pumpkin Hard Chews with hemp oil and turmeric for healthy joints and digestion. while these appear not to have CBD, they have all the other benefits of hemp products. My pup loves these and they are great for her bad knees along with her puppy IBUprofen.
Let me know what your favorite vegan dog treats are Veg Peeps? I know my pup and many others will appreciate the suggestions!
